Soleras Magnetron Repair
Soleras frequently examines and modifies
existing magnetron designs. Most existing metalizer systems can be
modified and upgraded at a fraction of the cost of a new system.
Soleras offers a range of repairs and enhancements for older systems. Simple modifications can give dramatic process
improvements.
Soleras has successfully solved problems
such as:
- limited cooling
- target change difficulties
- low target utilization
The Repair Process
Initial Assessment
This is a brainstorming and information gathering session. Soleras is
familiar with many different system problems. There are common problems
that many magnetrons share. Soleras will discuss current system
weaknesses and feasible design alterations.
In-House Assessment
Soleras will examine the sputter source and do a complete quality
appraisal of the current system. This stage is critical to both
parties. The goal is to verify the validity of proposed design
alterations and obtain complete information for a concrete repair
proposal.
The Repair Proposal
Once all the variables are known and evaluations performed, the details
are finalized. A formal proposal is presented detailing the findings
and recommended modifications.
The Repair
The complete cathode assembly and all
components necessary for modification are shipped to Soleras. A
schedule is given for the approximate date of manufacturing so parts
can be shipped, repaired, and returned for minimum system downtime.
Most repairs can be completed in two weeks. The finished product
performs like new or better.
